The path of the shaman - although well over 100,000 years old, and the first spiritual practice known to humankind - is still vitally relevant today.

Through the shaman's most important ceremony - the shamanic journey - you can safely enter an expanded state of awareness, and travel into the unseen realms in order to access spiritual guidance, healing, and knowledge for yourself and others firsthand - thus reclaiming your spiritual independence.

In this workshop, originated by world-renowned shamanic teacher Sandra Ingerman, MA, you will step onto the shaman's path by practicing basic shamanic journey, divination, and healing skills.

Together, we will explore:

  • What shamanism is, and why we in the West can ethically and effectively practice it,

  • How the shaman safely expands their consciousness (using only sound), the spirit worlds that they journey to, and the beings they meet there,

  • Journeying to meet your own power animal and spirit teacher - incredible forces who counsel, cure, and wonderfully support you and others,

  • How to interpret the messages you receive in your journeys,

  • The basics of divination - getting answers to questions posed by others,

  • Forming a supportive and powerful journey circle in your community,

  • How shamans view and treat illness,

  • The spirit boat healing ceremony - focused on one spirit-chosen member of our circle,

  • Practice giving and receiving the power animal retrieval method,

  • And so much more.

This transformative workshop will be held in southern Indiana’s rolling hills - specifically in the inclusive city of Bloomington, only about an hour from Indianapolis. The venue (which is a gathering place for trusted local holistic practitioners, and offers customized massage and bodywork sessions) is mere steps from all manner of eateries, shops, and amenities, and is only a few minutes from downtown’s rich cuisine, trivia nights, and performances, the 1,200-acre Griffy Lake nature preserve, Lake Monroe, and Bloomington’s farmers markets and summer happenings.

Stepping onto the shaman's path does not require you to be a shaman - you can utilize these timeless and results-based practices to enrich your own life with personal guidance and support, or use this as a starting point to becoming a professional shamanic practitioner. Even those who have taken this workshop already may find their knowledge deepened and refined, and themselves opened to beneficial new power. Whether you wish to help yourself or learn techniques for helping and healing others, if you feel called to this life-changing course, there is something in this exploration of the shaman's journey for you.

Completion of both days of this workshop serves as the beginning journeying workshop prerequisite for application to Sandra Ingerman's 2025-2026 Two-Year Shamanic Teacher Training.
