The Power of Shamanic Journeying

Beginning Workshop

Anthropologists have called shamanism the “world’s oldest profession.” And there appears to be good reason that this ancient practice has survived for so long.

Shamans, found in cultures across the globe, are said to have been tasked with locating food sources, healing the sick, defending the community, and otherwise maintaining balance and well-being for their people.

And in the contemporary West, shamanism is no less vital. The spirits with whom the shaman works are still here, illuminating the spiritual causes or aspects of illness, providing us with meaningful guidance and direction on matters of career, relationships, and beyond, and offering personalized tools of empowerment with which to meet the beauties and challenges of this life in a more harmonious and in-Spirited way. Shamanism allows us firsthand, un-mediated access to the wisdom and power of the spirit realm.

In this initiatory experience, you will be introduced to cross-cultural elements of global shamanisms, as well as to a classic shamanic ceremony for bringing brilliant guidance and healing to yourself and others - the shamanic journey.

Together, we will discover:

  • The diverse nature, and Western context, of shamanic practice - and why it is ethically available to Westerners today,

  • The roles that shamans may take in helping and healing their communities - and the types of spirits that aid the shaman in doing so,

  • The shamanic journey into “the three worlds” to access firsthand knowledge of the spirit realm, guidance, and healing from compassionate transpersonal forces,

  • Meeting or deepening your relationship with a powerful spirit ally in animal form - and ways to connect with their support in daily life,

  • Invoking personal healing or guidance from your own spirit teacher,

  • Interpreting and understanding nighttime dreams through the counsel of a Middle World Master or Mistress of Dreams,

  • The basics of shamanic divination - doing shamanic readings for others,

  • How to expand your consciousness for shamanic work in safe, effective, and hallucinogen-free ways,

  • How to interpret and begin feeling confidence in what you receive in your direct revelation,

  • Several causes of illness that shamans may perceive - and how they heal them,

  • The power animal/helping spirit retrieval healing methodology for restoring health, spiritual immunity, and personal empowerment to others,

  • And so much more.

This journey combines digestible lecture, numerous experiential exercises to gain firsthand knowledge and healing, the opportunity to both give and receive divination and helping spirit retrieval healing, multiple breaks per session, and question-and-answer periods, all in a space cultivated for warmth and community support and connection with like-minded persons. It is a suitable prerequisite for all advanced shamanic trainings, as well as an ethnographically-rich and world-expanding experience for those new practitioners of shamanism, seasoned “veterans” of Western shamanisms, and those who may simply wish an introduction to the practice.

No prior experience is necessary. As we step onto the path of direct revelation - direct, firsthand access to wise, transcendent transpersonal forces - not only do we equip ourselves with the tools to begin helping and healing others, we throw open the doors to discover what is “out there” for ourselves, and gain access to rich guidance and healing power that we can use to improve our own daily lives. In other words, as we enter the world of the shaman, we enter into not only personal empowerment, but ineffable spiritual freedom.
